DEFRA? We're not collecting.
« on: April 16, 2006, 20:08:26 »
Phoned DEFRA to report a dead bird inside the house, obviously it hasn't had time to die of starvation..........DEFRA just said NO-ONE will be coming to collect it   just bag it and bin it
It must have flown in this morning, before we went out. Got back at 2:30pm to the alarm going off, and there it was, dead on the floor.

ANY IDEAS ON CAUSE OF DEATH ANYONE.

I would guess that stress is the likely cause, it would hjave found itself in an alien environment with no means of escape.

As to reporting possible bird flu, DEFRA have guidlines here. Seems that the chances of a single dead bird being a problem are small.

I would say the same too, esecially if the alarm was making a racket for a few hours as well. Enough to frighten anyone.

They did ask me to keep an eye out for other birds from the same species (STARLING) that are dead.
Your probably right, about it dying of shock......but the alarm is very quiet inside the house, weve got 3ft thick sandstone walls.
