« on: April 17, 2006, 18:30:25 »
I have the indicators in the bumper, not in the car, is the conversion easy?, do I have the wires in place or do i have to run them from the bumper? Anyone done it?

I did it on mine when I bought it in December 2002 (1998 build)
An easy swap, takes the metaphorical '10 minutes', if everything is as it should be.  (oh yeah)

The most important factor & most time-consuming is the wiring.

Part numbers for these clusters are;
AMR5150
AMR 5151 (circa £33.00 inc. VAT each)

If you're lucky, & I was, the multi-plugs to the body clusters will already have the relevant feeds in them, but I do believe that (for some reason :? ) they were deleted in certain years productions - can't believe that

1. On both sides remove the lamp access panel, & if a 7-seater, unscrew  the top bolts (Torx 30, or 35)

2. Inside you will find a multi-pin plug*

3. Test the multi-plugs with a multi-meter, or test lamp. You need tail-light & indicator feeds at the multi-plug

4. If the supplies** are in place, simply unscrew the plastic thumb-screws & swap the clusters. ***
Don't Forget to replace the sealing gaskets between cluster & body.

5. The indicator relay may need swapping for one that can cope with 3x21watt (& 5-watt repeater), plus towing electrics; if fitted
AMR4873 is the relay for 3x21 + towing, this also illuminates the 'trailer tell-tale' on the dash (a legal requirement)
The relay costs about £26.00 (inc. VAT)

* You will also find the suplies for towing electric by the off-side cluster.
These comprise a 7-pin socket for the 12N socket(if not chopped off), a permanant live, a reversing light take-off & an earth (these 3 for the 12S socket)

** If not in place, you need to splice into the feeds to the bumper lights & feed the supplies up through a grommit to the clusters & somehow attach to the (perhaps?) non-existant pins in the multi-plug

***
Whilst the clusters are out, why not take the opportunity to spray 'WaxOyl' down into the bodywork seams?
Also, run the thumb-screws up & down the threads on the new clusters, as they can be stiff & awkward once in place

Hope this helps you, just ask if you have any more questions
