Today was a good day for me!! I took HL to 'Dr George' (GP Landrovers at Bitteswell) for her MOT repairs and to get her transfer box looked at: As some peeps know, I've been having problems selecting and staying in low for some time now; it can be alarming, to say the least when chunk- you're suddenly freewheeling down a bl@@dy steep hil!!
With the re-opening of the hallowed ground of Kirton Lindsey a week on sunday, she had to be sorted out!
George had pre-warned me that worst case scenario would be a new (2nd hand) tranny box, which would be about £200.
I was chuffed to little mintballs (as I believe they say in the North ) when George found a grub screw in a rod (somewhere in the linkage, inside the tranny box cover) that was half a turn away from coming out completely, and allowing the rod to drop into my gearbox!!! Now THAT would have been expensive!!!
Anyway, I'm happy to say that she now goes high-neutral-low-neutral-high smoothly, with no play in the lever at all; what with that, and my all new brake drums, shoes, wheel bearing etc, she feels superb and I can't wait to get out playing again!! :(biggrin):
I must clean out my brakes after playing
