Yorkshire is a BIG county (biggest in the country, in fact), but if you're near me (Ryedale, North Yorkshire), you have:

Flamingo Land (Theme park and zoo)
Langdale Quest (www.langdalequest.co.uk - off road center)
North Yorkshire Moors (Great for scenery)
York (Something for everyone)
Scarborough (Typical seaside resort)
Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington nr York
North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway
Eden Camp (PoW camp turned WWII museum)

That's about all I can think of at the moment.

You've got to smile when the message filter gets it wrong.
I was trying to add all sort of expletive words in there to make it look right. I hadn't thought of tw whoops can't say that

A visit to Filey for Fish and Chips has to be on the cards if you're that way.

well, the "message filter" is a little stupid I know, there's only actually seven words in there at present, and *no* you don't get a prize for spotting all seven.

Basically it's used as either a safety net, or in cases of us recieving a specific complaint.

Generally you all police yourselves though :)

Thanks.

I fully understand Daz,
I used to run a BBS on amateur radio. The AR license meant that certain words were definately verboten.

People worked their way around it and we ended up looking for words with spaces and s turned into $ etc.
Unfortunately we were personally held responsible even though we were merely carriers.

Keep up the good work everyone.

If you go to Bridlington go to the south beach, great big beach that don't get packed. You can still walk along most of the Roman wall around York and the train museum is free. You could go across the North Yorkshire Moors to Whitby and see Dracula's Castle.

You could go across the North Yorkshire Moors to Whitby and see Dracula's Castle.

Erm, where in Whitby is Dracula's castle?  Whitby has links with Dracula/Bram Stoker, but there aint:

A castle
A Dracula grave
Vampires
Blah blah blah

There is the cool Dracula Museum though.  Perhap not too good for kids.

Having worked in Whitby for 5 years I learnt to hate it with a passion.  It's great for visitors, but it's all hills and narrow roads, and has a chronic shortage of parking spaces.  The best part about working in Whitby was the journey there and back, over the North Yorkshire Moors.  But, alas, that was before I discovered the joys of off-road driving.   :(

Right Ed.
Royston Vasey is the town in 'The League Of Gentlemen'

Filey is a weird 'inbred' place. All the shops seem to shut at 14'00 on a Saturday afternoon (bar the amusements)

The last time we went, the mother-in-law wanted to buy a knitting pattern book from a shop, but the woman wouldn't sell it to her unless she bought all the wool there & then - that's without deciding what to knit.
LikeI said ; weird!

Cabaret singer, close but no cigar! Royston Vasey is(I understand) the real nameo fthat obnoxious 'comic' Chubby Brown.

'Wheel-Tappers & Shunters Social Club', blimey that's going back some time!!!
The youngsters like Andy (is it 'Big Bro' today?) won't remember that.

Next thing you'll be reminsicing about 'TheGood Old Days' with Leonard Sachs :D  (indupitably & indominantly!!!)

I passed by today (11:30) on my way to foreign shores (the land of the enemy - Red Roses) & then back later(16:00)

Saw the 'Land Rover Experience' team in action at their Yorkshire outpost at Coniston Cold on the way up, took some photos (G4 Range Rover on the course)

The 'National Museums;
Film, Photography & TV (haven't been for years)
National Railway Museum (wonderful place, I want to take 'Mallard' home with me)
Armouries (the 'Hall Of Steel' is ultra-impressive!)
are all free now, as they come under the umberella of the Science Museum
