how heavy and whats the length of it?
you will need this info when you contact couriers but i found parcelforce to be cheap and handy

Fastway couriers is the leader in this area - we use them at work. No-one has a bad word to say about them and they are very competitive. Type in fastwaycouriers in a search and pick your area.

Are very good with this kind of thing, fairly cheap and reliable
UPS
are Reliable, but pricey
City Link
can be hit and miss, but 75% of the time are OK. Cheap though
Tuffnels
(SP?) Good for cross country stuff cheap.

Yep. For a one off parcel the parcel2go rates are very good. Most mainstream carriers will charge significantly more if you don't have a contract. Just watch the size limits though. The maximum length is 4 feet so I doubt you can send a bumper!
