What a start to the day
« on: May 02, 2006, 13:44:10 »
The bell goes at 8.40 and I head off to take the register for my form. On the way I feal something like a hair or food stuck to a tooth so I get a fingernail on it and try to scrape it off. Instead the damn tooth crumbles away!!!! Right down to the gum. No pain no warning nothing.

I got an appointment at the dentists for 12.45 and arranged for other staff to take my classes and went and had what was left taken out.

So now I am sitting here feeling sorry for myself with a lump of cotton wool in my mouth

God I hate dentists (except the female sort who distract their patents with a couple of buttons undone  )

iHATE dentists... but after 16 years of having no front teeth (long story) I finally plucked up courage 4 years ago and had £3500 pounds worth of treatment - 2 out, 2 filled 1 GOLD crown, 1 porcelain crown and 1 PLATINUM post with false tooth on it :D:D:D best part is it didnt cost me a penny, cos i was on a government scheme for training it was all FREE!!!
my old school dentist was a Dr BUTCHER....i kid you not...really confidence inspiring!!

Feeling now coming back - got a good tingle going on in my cheek. :?

Did throw up earlier though, had a bit of filling stuck at the back of my throat - gone now.

Off to the pub shortly to get some proper pain relief and get rid of the awful taste in my mouth.

im a wuss too

my dentist puts a gell on my gums before the needle so it numbs it enough so i dont feel the pain

i still feel the pressure though and made the mistake once of seeing the size of the needle!

best one was 4hrs before i got married (it was at 2.30)

i was in a dentist chair at 10.30am as i'd had an abcess develop the night before... i probably slept for an hour or two, the rest of the time dosing with port and crying like a wuss.. if you've had an abcess you'll know what i mean.. you want to rip your face off!

dentist said in a very serious voice.. don't get married.. it isnt worth it!

so i had to go through the service and the "do" dosed on antibiotics and drinking squash, the stuff was too strong with alcohol and the wedding was the last place i wanted to make myself look a fool... looking like a welsh fat penguin is bad enough without being off my trolley!

i eventually finished my antibiotics in barbados, but i can still remember know in pain saying i do... maybe it was a sign! ;)

Had an abcess a few times now & yes the pain is unbelievable, had the dentist lance one once at midnight  , & he only charged me £25  , the relief of pain was worth 10 times that, had my top jaw & nose broke & 4 teeth kicked out in a pre-tornament bout, when I came to that hurt as well  ,
