Just been reading how it's done, but I must be missing something because I couldn't see why it is done.

Anyone help please........................................ :?

I believe it is done to stop the crownwheel spreading away from the pinion under excessive loadings.  Naturally the crownwhell and pinion want to work away from each other.  Pegging the diff stops the crownwheel from distorting too much.

Agreed.  I haven't done it to my racer, because I run a standard 3.9 engine, but will consider it when I up the power.

4L V8 with a few tweaks.... and I've never run pegged diffs...   I think it's one of those 'specmanship' things to be honest ;-)

i think its one of those things you know when you need it when you starts knackering diffs, but until then most of us wont get anywhere near needing that.
