Quick release two mounts
« on: May 06, 2006, 16:45:28 »
Is there anything decent for a defender that can tow and then be released off quickly for off roading play time?  It's a paint in the whatsit having to unbolt the whoel structure all the time only then not to have it when it is needed.

Would ideally like to have someting like a nato hitch at the back (are they ok to bolt striaght through rear cross member?)  But then there is the occasional time I'd like to tow a small civy trailer.

Thanks
Matt

I would go with the NATO hitch myself. Had one on the 90 and was really good.
The only thing I would strongly advise though is put a plate behind the crossmember (easy enougth job but can be a little fiddly to gain access)
You can just bolt the hitch on but I've heard stories of them tearing off. At least with a plate you get a bit more piece of mind

Also with the NATO hitch its an "always on" answer so you dont have to mess about attaching and remooving and doesnt overly effect your exit angle.
