Do i or Dont i. ??

I phoned up a place today about a job.
The place in question, is a Land Rover garage. Im a mechanic by trade, but have been in the Nuclear Power industry now for 5 years as a Plant Technician. I spoke to the boss, who has invited me for an interview next week. And i dont know what to do.
I currently get near to 9 weeks paid holiday. and earn quite alot. But i dont enjoy my job much. It takes me 10 mins to get to work, and i can have time off at short notice. I am also applying for a Deputy Team Leaders job.
The other job would mean a 40-50 min journey. A smallish pay drop (I think), only 20 days holiday.
I think i would prefer to work there, and they say, all the craftsman are Land Rover trained. They would put me through all the training too.
So. Do i go for the interview or not bother using a days holiday????

I did this type of thing and the grass is not always greener. Stay with the money and the holidays. that way you get more time with your hobby, more money to spend on your hobby and your hobby stays just that!

at the mo your job is easy(i assume ) money is good and all the rest of it, and landrovers are a enjoyable hobbie/passtime. if you get the new job, A you might not have enough money to enjoy and modify your own landy, and B with working on other peoples landies all day may take the fun out of you hobby/passtime/way of life. and C less holidays means less time out playing with said toy.
ive gone for jobs thinking the grass is greener and its not, having said that, might be the best move you ever make. go with your gut but dont make a rash desion. (probibly doesnt help any)

Go for the interview and decide after that. I've just turned down an extremely well paid job - I didnt like what they told me about the job whilst at interview. Permanent lates and weekend nights = no time for family or Landy

Go for the interview you have nothing to lose by going for it and it keeps your hand in at being interviewed even if you dont go for the job you can look at it as practise for getting the one you do want :D

don't go back into the trade!work for a large well known company on the spanners.i have just compleated 4 years of training, already being in the trade you should know that everything has changed.most things involve computers, there is very little repair,it's just a case of take off and fit new!there ain't no skill in that, thats why they bring in the polls and pinos.the money is w**k.
the decider should be that after working all day on someone elses car.the last thing you wanna do when you finish work is fix what you broke on your own!plus can't speak for cars but the hgv trade is dying!

You could always ask at the interview for the same benefits as your getting in your current job  , they'll probably laugh at you tho. If they see your an enthusiast and feel you'll be a positive addition to the company....they may well up your holiday quota
, my boss did....but then took my xmas bonus back (long story).

Go for the interview and decide from there, it's always worth checking out your options.

Know how you feel mate. Im working for a big FM Company, but got the chance of work from someone i know on a CIS basis as a machine driver. Money would be similar, less holiday and more work in the summer, but it would be doing a job i love......... so gonna sit down an work it all out - just weigh up your options
