looking for advice.
my 200tdi always emits a huge cloud of thick black smoke on startup.
doesnt matter whether the engine is hot or cold turn the key and belch it all goes dark!
it doesnt smoke at all after startup and its doing my head in any advice or ideas would be appreciated . :oops:  :oops:  :oops:

its a tdi  :lol:   stick a bit of reddex in the system and change the fuel filter

Thats all Landys my freind...he he..

tis normal for most..

as above change Air Filter and Fuel Filter mine does it on start up for a few secs :wink:

yep i know its a tdi and they all do that .
it just seems to do it more than others and it annoys me .
oh well suppose i could just fit a v8 and that would fix it!

no probs with the engine it goes very very well.
as for redex it always gets millers when i fuel up.
and the motor is serviced every 3000 miles it wants for nothing.
the only thing thats not been serviced is the injection pump so i think that will be next just to see if that will sort it.

Millers is great i use that...but just dont put it it all the time as the Engine in part becomes to rely on it so to speak...

i think its just more noticeable to me because i have a side exit exhaust .
when i start it up all i see in the nearside mirror if a great cloud of guff.

maybe if i went back to a satndard exhaust it might be better? who knows

I just happen to know where a V8 (3.9) from A discovery with an LPG kit may be going for grabs. better than those nasty Diesel jobs.

Good job scaps feching good money at the moment i can only recomend you way the old BOAT engine in cause it aint worth s"$t in any decent 4x4 (oh yeah when youve finished with the gas kit could you take it down the old peoples home cause me nans cold and thats all gas is any good for) :tongue:

Philbert, your not the only one with a black smoke problem :roll: , I too get it and am very self concious about it, especially when theres a group of little old ladies fighting to escape the black cloud of fumes as i start it outside the paper shop ( they momentarily loose all sight as its so thick and black).
