Dearth of OME kit in UK!
« on: July 10, 2004, 11:36:17 »
Great - bank balance looking reasonable - done all my research & spoken to lots of people - time to order my new OME suspension bits!  Pair of 779s for the front and 107/108 shocks.

But there's a UK-wide shortage as far as I can tell.  So I'm going to have to wait.  Damn.  I'm not the world's most patient person

I was going to order from Devon 4x4, as they've been really helpful, but Discoparts have also helped out a lot.  But Discoparts are already getting orders for some other bits from me

Liz should have them in by the end of next week, so if I can get hold of some before all the suppliers hoof it up to Billing I should be OK.

I got Old Man Emu 779s from Devon 4x4 for the front, along with 106/107 shocks for front and rear, and a steering damper.

I also took a set of air spring spacers from Discoparts for the back.  All fitted very easily once I'd got some spring compressors for the 779s.

The next day I went up to Nene Valley Off-Road and got a set of BF Goodrich All Terrains in a 235/85R16 to fill the wheel arches back up again!

Not the cheapest month I've had (particularly as I had a 48K service & a replacement hub as well), but it all works great (apart from the fuel economy, that is).  Looks the part, drives well, should be good off-road and on.  The testing ground will be a trip to South Wales in early September.

My next scheduled expenditure is a set of Discoparts rocksliding sills, although I'm waiting for Mark to make up a set with the side steps which also have the jacking points...

After that, there's nothing planned, although if I'm bored one weekend I could end up with a snorkel as well  8) .  I think a winch would be overkill.
