just thought i'd share a little problem i had today when i was out on a driveing day when one of my mates dared me to try the infamous "mudrun" and it hadnt been done for a while and the last rangie that went in there took 4 vehicles to be pulled out.
well i went flying into it from across the valley and bang there it was! 1 nicely bent steering arm!
thanks to a slight tug from a 90 we straightened it enough to get home again, and just for anyone that hasnt seen a rangie steering arm, its ment to be straight! and this one was pushed against the axle in that shape!

not 100% sure, something big and hard in the bottom of the mud run!
i have it on video on here but i don tknow how to get them onto the forum?,i think it was just one of the rutts or the almost verticle bank to climb out of the pit!??!

nah ive seen how much steering guards impair offroad performance! any deepruts and it picks the front up and then you have no traction on the front, i'll stick with seriously bending my first steering arm in 25yrs off offroading and just carry a spare, its 2 bolts and thats it!

yeh, i have got a spare arm, but if/when this one bends then i will more than likely get one of those! but aslong as ive got a standard spares lyeing round i will put them on, doesnt cost me anything then does it!

i agree, i think theres alot of stuff on the market that you dont really need, extreme drive flanges for instance, how many people acually need them (iam sure some people do) but for the most they are just another way to waste your money.

I used to suffer bent steering arms all the while, try pushing the standard arms through some gas tube, leave the gas tube a couple of inches shorter than the arm (so you can get the clamps on) and just weld the ends up. This idea worked for me i aint bent one since and its a lot cheaper than buying the "proper" reinforced items.

yeh! i think that answers for the bent stering arm!, well its more than likely! and incase you didnt knwo this is the rangie with the perkins 6cylinder, aprox 5.5liter disel engine! so theres a fair bit of weight on the front, she is probs why it had to be dragged out byt 3 of them roped together!

um its the 6.354, was out of a combine harvester, as much as i know, its only just fits in the hole!

not quite sure about that, if it is the same as the engines we have at work, they are huge. (i think ours are 6.8 litre)

I will check this in the morning for you but remember the one side has a reverse thread this is why i sleeved the standard one.
