Any one fitted a front tow bar?
« on: May 22, 2006, 10:49:51 »
Did you find it usefull?
Thinking of making one to fit my 1994 Disco 300TDi as the caravan is stored in a tight spot.
Any pics or measurements would be good
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

I bought a tow hitch to go onto the frome of my disco, but never fitted it.

It is square tube with wings on and has u bolts to clamp onto the chassis. The tow ball is fitted to another bit od squair tube so you can remove it. Held in place buy two bolts.

Hope this helps.

A detachable tow-bar also fits into a pair of 'Jack-Mates'
They also offer points for a hi-lift & D-shackles

Sorry, I sold them to Andy ('Range Rover Blues') when I px'd the Discovery, but he may have a photo

how does that fit on then?

Does it remove easily from the disco and does it fit with a steering guard in place? steering guard pics in my gallery

Most expensive item for a Disco is????? a round piece of paper stuck on the windscreen!

It is made to fit the chassis where the bumper is attached. Not sure if it will fit with the steering guard, looking at mine it should fit fine.

I bought this off a chap with a disco who had it for moving his caravan in the drive. If you take the bolt out you can remove the tow hitch and leave the shaft on the car. It has greese nipples to keep the shaft lubed.

I bought it with intentions of fitting it but never got round to it. Not I have plans to get a bumper made to my spec.
