The power of the sea!!
« on: May 29, 2006, 22:35:55 »
This is what happened to my brother-in-law's V8 RR after one tide. He actually had to swim back to the beach & lost about a grands worth of fishing gear. I wasn't with him at the time (thank god), but he was parked out on a bank & somehow managed to miss the tide coming in behind him  .
He gave me a ring the following morning, expecting me to just come down & tow it off the beach  , but then he found this (you can't see from the pics but the roof has been completely seared off)

By the time he realised that there was no way off the bank, the tide had come in a fair way & it was touch & go, as his mate had to go in & help him the last few yards (his mate had left the vehicle alot earlier than him)

Yes thats the one (you actually go on over the dunes on the left before you get to the Country Park, but the council stopped all vehicular access last year cos there were so many cocklers going down there (someone told me there were upto 700 4x4s on the beach on some tides        )

My unlce used to live in Gendros till he passed away in April, but I also have relatives at Sketty and on Town Hill. I love Swansea, actually contemplated buying my uncle's house but would be a big upheaval and not a good time for my children right now.

i used to live in Llanelli, one of my many previous residences (i'm 18 and lived in 6 different places, not necessarily a bad thing) and we used to go to pembrey country park loads.
Did you ever see all the huge jelly fish washed up on the beach, about 2 - 3 feet across, all along the beach?

Yeah I know what you mean, it is generally a nice place as you are never further than 20 mins from the best beaches in Britain, but Swansea itself, same as any large town / city has plenty of bad points :(
