Extended breathers leaking oil
« on: May 30, 2006, 21:59:31 »
Going down the motorway today I had some muddy brown oil spitting out of one of my breathers at the top of the snorkel, sprayed the whole of the side of the car. The oil smells like gearbox oil.

Has anyone heard of this happening before and know what might be the cause of it?

could be that you have water in your gear box which is "boiling" creating pressure and the only place it can go, is up the breather.

Check your oil, etc.

Thanks for that, I've been through some water before i got myself some wading plugs so i'll give it an oil change. I'll check the transfer box and check the axles while i'm at it.
