oh don't get me wrong, my fiesta does everything i need it to and it does it very well. The reason i don't have a landy is coz there's no way i can afford to, not just purchase price but insurance, fuel etc (landy doing 35 -40mpg, i don't think, so :) )

I'll join the owners list in a few years when i've got the dough, btw i thought you were still at school is that preparation for when you can drive or are you 17 and at college?

I hate to throw a spanner in the works here but when you pass your test you can only legally drive vehicles with up to 9 seats (including driver).

Unless you are going to be taking seats out and re registering the landy you will be driving illegally.

That over.

I am well jealous. Look great. Fab car for a 1st car. :D

You can get around this by going through the NFU, our friends son had the same hassle with their S3 109 station wagon.. NFU had no problems with it, and because its not for hire or reward you can get around it!!

I was unser the impression its a licensing issue that makes it illegal to drive more than 9 seater, not an insurance issue so even if NFU is happy with it, it might not be legal!!

Bezza, its nots insurance issue, its license issue, for the first 2 years after passing your test your not allowed to drive a vehicle with more than 8 seats.

anyone who passes their test fro 1997 onwards cant drive vehicles with more than 9 seats. 8 + driver.

I had this problem as I couldnt drive my voluntary work minibus and had to do the DVLA driving test.

that turbo diesel engine (pre-Tdi type) can be a bit fragile so make sure you keep up with the servicing... lots of clean oil and keep an eye on your coolant levels.... its basically a turbo charged version of the old 2.5D... and its not realy upto the stress of being turbocharged... look after it and don't thrash it and you'll be fine though.......

Nice :)

Hope you pass first time and can get the insurance on it in your name ;)

I looked at a J engined one myself, until I heard of the problems and the limited life.

Now just need matty to join the owners club rather than the dreamers  8)

I know about the J's Issues - but tbh for my Budget (£1800) I thought I did well to get a Coiler - Let alone a Turbocharged one! it's done 130k miles now and was serviced on the dot by an LR Specialist.

The G-Box was new 15k miles ago and the rear brakes overhauled a little over 2k so there both in tip-top condition. Low Range and Diffs work and generally I'm about as happy as I expected to be. I feel I've got a fantastic machine for the money, and am Currently working on my dad to convince him to take it to billing :)

Thanks all, I intend to fix what's wrong with it and try and get it into a tidy condition for now, I'ts going in my dads name for the time being as he's going to drive it till I can, so the mods are going to be to a minimum (Thinking clear lights and a Halogen upgrade for now.)

And on the matter of seats, I plan to remove the rear benches, and fit a cubby box in the front anyway.

We're with the NFU, me and me dad for under £300!!!! Bloomin' Stunning!
