what do i need to look out for .gonna do a 2"body lift..ie does steering shaft need altering or changing .etc

I have done a few 1" lifts on classics and I found that you can do a 1" lift with out any trouble but any taller you will for saftey need to get a longer steering shaft and longer brake lines as well the seatbelt anchor bolts will need to be lenghtend as they will not be long enoughto reach the chassis. as well as the rad will need a little more attention in placementin some way.

For a 2" lift you will need to consider the following: -

Repositioning of the radiator, same for steering res, rad res and brake res (or longer feed hoses).

Fuel tank filler & breather pipes. Brake pipes need relocating or longer flexible hoses.

Steering, maybe a longer shaft :!:

What you have to bear in mind is that anything connected to the body sheel that is also connected to something on the chasis will need attention.

That is one reason, it can also help if you've got extreme articulation.

hmmmm cheaper but not better, besides on the disco you cant go very big without cutting the arches anyway
each to their own. I would just point out that lifting the suspension has several benefits and doesnt require changes to radiator/ steering etc as some have commented.
BTW ive probably got more suspension travel than most and havent lifted the body, i just cant see the benefit to lifting an already top heavy vehicle like the discovery..oh and im running 35's.

It's only 10mm less but you are better to go for a 40mm body lift. There's a lot less hassle.

surely by just lifting body it is helping keep the a lot of the weight that bit lower than a 2" lift kit which puts chassis /engine/ box higher.no extra strain on the props either

surely its a lot of faff for no real gain, whats the reason you want to do it? What else have you done so far? a 2 inch lift on suspension will cause no ill effects(in my experience) to props or handling.

i have fitted heavy duty orange standard springs and decarbon shox,but want to fit bigger wheels next

+3" springs & shocks + NO body lift + 33x12.5R15 tyres + wheelarch flares = Loadsa space. :D

How much bigger do you intend going on the tyres?

all ok exept for a leaky transfer box front seal....and the pinion bearing is gone in the rear diff..........the detroit locker was permanently locked yesterday so i dropped the oil out of the diff only to see emulsion.. :(

got a second hand diff and some g spot rear trailing arms so hopefully i will strip and rebuild it all this weekend.......

my disco has the 40mm lift and the reason it gives moor room above the chassis for the tires in the wheel arches ,....Remember Bully your wheels do contact the foot wells on full articulation ,

I dint need a longer steering shaft and brake lines can be repositioned and lowered the brakets for the rad and you can see i have not cut for larger arches and it is running on 33,s any moor Q,s i will be happy to help.! :D
