With regard to the recent posts by other s (& myself) about the greatest Lancastrian alive (well there's got to be a good Lancastrian somewhere
)
Here's a few snippets about 'our Freds' new TV series
It will be titled 'Made In Britain'
Filming is underway & directed by David Hall who has worked with Fred since the very first programmes around 20years ago.
Fred will be 'driving' his Aveling & Porter Convertible (converts between road-locomotive & roller) around engineering sites in Britain.
Some locations to be shown include;
Astley Green Coliery Museum (Lancashire)
an open-cast site at Wigan
Windermere (for the Steam Gondola on the lake)
Workington
Scotland - Forth Bridge, (the amazing)Falkirk Wheel, Bo'ness & Kinneil Steam Railway
Middlesborough
Sunderland
Israel Newtons works at Bradford
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
Sheffield
Corus Steel at Scunthorpe
Cornwall Wales, Shropshire (Ironbridge & Coalbrookdale)
Filming will continue until Spring 2005 & the series will be shown on BBC 2 shortly afterwards.
For anyone wanting further details, nip into your nearest decent newsagent & buy a copy of the magazine 'Old Glory' (the August issue)
A damn good read, whether Fred's in it or not.
http://www.oldglory.co.uk/index.htmSome lovely machinery for sale at the back, eg;
4" Scale Robey @ £10,000
(far better than even a 'ToyLander' :D )
http://www.modelworks-int.com/ I fancy the 'Scotsman', or 'Gresley', same size as the photos of the 'Brittani' on top of the bookcase (circa £9,000?)
