Anti roll bar

I’m thinking about removing my rear anti roll bar as it’s bent and of little use at the moment. Should I replace it with a new one or just remove the old one and leave it off. Can anybody please give me the pros and cons of doing so for both on and off road use?

Anti roll bars work at what they do, which is to reduce body roll at the cost of a little flexibility in the rough.

I like them, but then I like going fast.   I have one Discovery with and one with out.  The one without rolls like anything, but is not unsafe.

Scared, then didn't Maddy yesterday when I took a corner at 70mph to prove a point to a twonk next to me *in the wrong lane*. NEVER asume the big lumbering 4x4 thing can't handle better than your GTI....sometimes, just sometimes, it can - and it *will* make you look silly ;-)

I retained my CORRECT lane (and the posted limit was de-restricted dual carriagway!) and he had to around *again*.

P.S. For those that know the "corner" it was Junction 15 of the M1 - that stupid S bend thingy!

Mine was loose for a short while after fitting the tank guard (couldn't get the brackets back on again :roll: ). I drove it 60 miiles home - A roads and Motorway - and that made my mind up that the anti-roll bar does a very good job :shock:

I got it sorted ASAP!!

Mine hasn't for the past 2 years. I removed it with permission of the MOT man. They can only fail it if it's fitted and not working correctly.

mine are off and i push mine quite hard and never find it to wonder also the mot man was happy with em being removed :D

I took mine of three years ago and it has  passed every mot without it
and as for the handling it feels the same as when it was on.

The chances of me *racing* anyone round a bend at 70 mph is ZERO. I definately think you're right to keep yours on.

Chris, my MOT man stated if the ball joints or the bushes were worn then they do form part of the MOT and he'll fail it, but if it ain't there then he can't fail it ;-) tee hee
