Front Winch Bumpers (again)
« on: June 05, 2006, 17:44:19 »
Decided to opt for a winch bumper (and suffer the cost of the HD spring upgrade) instead of a non-winch, purely because of the option to add a winch if needed.

Only problem is now... who to go for...?

Paidia 4x4

Scorpion

Famous Four

Paddocks

...or anyone else?  Don't fancy the tubular though, I want to try and keep the look/style the same if possible.

C'mon people - spend my money

i've got the scorpion one fitted and is very neat and not like some of the huge things that stick out a mile

firstfour do a low profile one which is very similar to the scorpion one and i'd go for that if i was in the market for a new one

whatever you do dont buy one of those tubular jobbies IMHO look really horrid

You mean this one Steve?
<- Like their no-winch option too.

I looked at their Site, and the price took my breath away.  It looked the same as the others, but £100+ more expensive.  Put me right if I missed anything though.

Thanks guys - keep 'em coming.

And you get a discount

If you're going to LRW look me up and you can have a look at my Paidia bumper and see how it fits and looks in the flesh

Hi Chris,

The only thing I have "against" the Paidia winch bumper for my 300 Disco at the moment is that it looks like there is no holes for the washer jets, and little room to mount my spots (IPF 960's) without using a Defender A-Bar.

Is this right? (If I'm wrong guys, consider it "ordered" )

The FirstFour bumper has the holes, and it looks big enough to mount my spots to without needing another bar.

Cheers
Horness

I have a Scorpion one on mine.
I like the way it looks and it seems quite strong.
It was my second choice though.
I did'nt have enough for a Devon one at last years Billing

i voted for the Padia one as it is very well made and looks really good on my motor (as you can see in the picture above, yes it's mine)

it also fits straight on and the quality/ welding is second to none and a very good price, especially if you mention mudclub as they will give you a discount....

just my view

horness,

i'm sure if you know where abouts you want the holes for your spotlights/ washer jets and the size they need to be they would have them drilled for you before it is powder coated, just another advantage of dealing with a small company run by fellow mudclubbers and not a big company who deal in massive numbers and not bothered about individual needs.

At the end of the day youve lost nothing by contacting them and asking the question.

Not being pushy and no i don't have invested interests, other than they're my friends and i know they are made to a high standard

Thanks Neil - I've emailed them.

If they can pre-drill the holes like you said, it's a done deal.     I would sooner buy from people like that than Scorpion/Devon etc. if the product is right.

Problem with the Paidia site is that they have too many other goodies only a mouse click away...

Thanks
Horness

Wizard - I'm hearing great things about the Paidia bumper... I'm starting to think "what the hell" and just order it and be happy.  :D

As great a bumper as it looks - I just don't like the tubular bumpers on Discovery's.  It's like chequer plate - great on Series/Defenders, looks out of place on a Discovery.

Nice close fitting there though - just what you were looking for.

Horness.

Does anyone have any more pics of the D44 winch bumper?

Am I right in thinking it has no high-lift jacking tubes?  Just wondered if this pic was an old one?

It's crunch week as I want to order my winch bumper before I go away on holiday.
