hi i have a problem with my door lock on my disco its the drivers door and the problem is i open the door with key and i can open it with the handle .if i use the key fob it opens the locks but will not be able to open the door unless i put the key in and turn the lock by hand .i have looked at the lock inside the door and can see that one of the cams to lift the latch seems to be rounded i dont know if this is the problem or if its the central door lock unit as it seems to be a bit soft on the pull any one got any iders as i am about to pull my hair out  :(bloodshot):  many thanks ..

Sounds like the dreaded "Broken Spring In Door Lock" syndrome.
A little spring breaks in the lock mechanism and the lock won't open properly.
I'm sure there is a post on the problem if you do a search.

thanks for the info i have at last found the broken spring :(bigangry):  all i have to do now is

1; find a replacement poss eblag

2; work out how to take out the door lock :(bloodshot):

3;try not to lose my temper!!

4;wonder how the hell a door lock can be usles for the sake of a 2 p spring!!! :(scared):

any idears how to do this would be much apricated  many thanks

I don't know how similar it is but I had a problem with the rear door handle on my Disco. The door would lock and unlock but not open always open. :(bigangry):

Sent for a new spring of Ebay(can't remember the price but it didn't cost  a lot).

Fitted it in an evening, a bit fiddly though. If you still have doubts about fitting this spring, I did it with one arm(I only have one arm due to an accident many years ago)

Haven't had any problems opening door since fitting this new spring. :(biggrin):
