My father's Austin 1300 Mot failure parked in the corner and forgotten about.
He turned his back for a minute and I took it for a spin.

I was 14 at the time and it took a long downhill straight to get up to speed.

Whilst driving; the first time was probably in my dads Cavalier
Whilst passenger; 3.0 V6  Mk 1 Capri

Driving on private ground; 130+ (TVR Griffith)
Passenger on private ground; 165mph, in the wet :(scared):  (TVR Sagaris)

On 2 wheels; 130'-ish' pillion on a CBR600
On (unpowered) 2-wheels; 60mph* down East Chevin at Otley, & a similar speed down Holme-Moss :(scared):  :(bigshock):

*
Not the places to have a car pull out in front of you, but overaking them was fun:(biggrin):
Very accurate speedometers on bikes, if set up correctly, perhaps a discrepancy of less than a foot per mile?? (hence a similar accuracy for speed measurement)

Austin Princess 1800 HLS, wound it up to 110 on the clock.

Surely that was in KMH M'lud ?

It too expired before I got it home, one of the push rods bounced out and I got to do my first head removal.

Sold it to my dad to pay for driving lessons and he wrote it off a week later.
Watch out theres a tigger about!

Probably a Cossie, we used to get them up to 130 plus on the test track at Bassildon before the next corner.

Been in an Escort cossie flat out at 140 too.  What a hoot :D

Escort 1300 petrol van - well, the clock said a ton !

Whilst on the subject of silly things done in the past, we used to leave Hemel on the A414, slip onto the M1 south, and then get out into lane 3 (outside lane) of the M1 south, before getting off 300 yds later onto the M10 south (having carved back across 3 lanes of the M1   ) - and this was usually in a convoy of 3 or 4 vans. Really funny then, but I'm amazed now that we never got nicked and/or hurt in a pile up !

The first would have been my Rover SD1 3.5 V8 when I was 18. Then the MG Midget race car.

Fastest I've been as a passenger was about 160 in a Group B Peugeot 205 T16, scary! And the fastest I've driven would be about 150 in a Lotus Esprit around the test track, awesome!
