what about the lotus carlton instead of the senetor was the fastest produced saloon car for ages looked pretty mean too

That was in production while I worked at Lotus. Unfortunately never got to drive it or even ride in it. Awesome car. A good one will still fetch £20k. Not bad when you think the 3000 GSi it was based on wouldn't even fetch £500 now
I think I am right in saying it was the fastest production saloon right up until the current BMW M5.... and that has a stonking great V10 to do it! The Lotus only had a 3.6 straight six. Oh, OK, it had two wopping great turbos to help it along to 176mph though!

Car I regret not buying....
Genuine Lotus 11 complete with Coventry Climax engine and 'wobbly' wheels.... for £8000. During the silly season at the end of the eighties, they were topping £80,000   I was looking at building a Westfield 11 and was looking at this at a dealers on Edgware Road. As he said, by the time I'd built the Westfield properly, I could have the real thing for the same money. Sadly at the age of 18, there was no way I could raise £8k  :(

Found the front of the senator looked nicer than the calton plus you never saw a lot of senator taxis, and more room inside the senator with a better finish.

Seeing as we are going off topic :

When I giot the Audi I had the choice of that, A Skyline GTR34 and a Lotus Esprit Turbo SE

Audi one because it was Sane. Although more expensive to insure than the Lotus. Test drove the Skyline expecting big things and was disapointed. The Lotus I had sent to the Lotus Dealer in Shoreham and they said not to bother it was a 'bad one' and they knew it of old.

First test drive of the (then badged) Audi 80 and I stomped it, and it pulled likea train, I got back to the dealer with a fixed grin, went and did my research and went back the next day :)
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

After having a ride in one on tuesday, the original mini cooper.

My friend down in devon who's big into cars has just finished putting it back on the road, still in factory spec, sounds like a heck of a lot more than 998cc when you rev it and it was just so cool.

He also has a 1967 chevrolet caprice sport, a jeep ??, a Mk1 Golf Gti, a volvo ??, a go kart (for his 11 year old son) and a new mini tucked away in various outbuildings. Along with his daily runner Audi 80 Tdi, which drive's sweet.

Pictures of the volvo and jeep.
i wish, i wish, i wish i had a landy,
a fiesta is so boring!!!

i miss my old VW Jetta 1.8GT.... the thinking mans golf....

was a 1990 model with 'big bumpers' and a spax lowered suspension kit... cornered like it was on rails, and was a lovely motorway cruiser.....

i sometimes miss the old VW Polo i had as a first car... had chunky little tyres on it and VW scirroco front brakes.... it cornered realy well and stopped like an F1 car....

....i miss my VW's..... :(
