a 200tdi is more involved as you have to remove the waterpump aswell. The main thing to be aware of is being able to undo the crank pulley nut and removing the crank pulley as they can be very tight. Other than that it is fairly straight forward.Make sure to check the tensioner and idler for signs of wear/noisy and the crank seal isn't leaking.
hope i've not put you off

I did mine last year not too big a job I have done worse, take the rad out and be carefull of seized studs around the top of the water pump.
You can make a flywheel holding pin out of an old wading plug and a drill bit, The pully tool I welded up out of some scrap flat bar and tube.
If you follow the manual and take your time you can't go far wrong.

The 200 timing belt is not involved at all.
Disconnect the battery, unbolt the alternator and move it out of the way. Take off all drive belts. Take off crank pully. take off water pump and timing cover. Check what bolts come out of which hole on the timing cover as they are different lenghts (see haynes manual).
Refer to the manual to line up the timing marks.
Before you take off the old belt cut it in half along its intire length so you effectivly have two belts on.
remove the front half of the belt, leaving the back half on.
Slip the new belt on the front half of the pullies, now cut off the back part of the old belt and fully fit the new belt.
Doing it this way you wont move any of the timing marks.
I hope this helps a bit.

Well after changing them a few times you tend to learn a short cut or two.

but how do you check for the idler and tensioner for wear using this method, and it must be bloody hard work cutting a timming belt down its length with a stanley knife, just a thought

why do you all take off the water pump ? i never do as for the crank shaft bolt i use a breaker bar, put it underneath the steering box and just let the starter motor do the work, works everytime, just disconnect the stop solenoide first as i 4got to do monday doing the crank seal on mine agen
