I'm about to replace the rotten rear cross member on my 110 O:)
Now, the towbar drop plate, whilst being very useful for towing, ruins my departure angle whilst off road  :-k
Has anybody come up with a solution of a detatchable version :?:

As I've got to removed the tow bracket for the crossmeber replacement, thought it might be a good time to tackle this issue

Cheers

There are various aftermarket options, i believe southdown make one, and possibly scorpion too.

I just use a very short drop bracket and the adjustable height hitch. When used off-road I remove the main part of the hitch which just leaves two vertical flat plates that cut through the soil/mud.

Yep, your right, and David at Southdown is a really good chap, (just talked to him on the phone).

So rather than try and modify one, I'm going with the above!

Thats exactly what I did and it's a mighty fine piece of kit - takes a hell of a beating. Towed boats and race-car traillers with it and found no hidden surprises.

Not cheap, but with Dave, you get what you pay for.

Good choice - everyone who goes for one of these never regrets it and always recommends them.
