For all those vehicle owners why do we have to pay Road tax and horses don't?

A steel horse shoe does more damage than my rubber tyre.

Why do we have to carry insuranse and horses don't?

Horses! dont get me going!!
Road damaging, yes
taxed, no
insured, optional
flighty creatures with a lack of brakes/control, yes
poo where they want, yes
scared of noises/cars/bikes/pretty much 'owt, yes

I love to see them out in the fields, where they belong, but on roads, Im sorry but NO.

Dog poop should be picked up in public pedestrian places I think. I dont bother in the fields/woods, but a pavement should be kept clean.

PS. anyone ever come hurtling round a bend on a Motorbike and found a horse has been busy across the road, that stuff is deadly!
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

Parasites in dog poo can cause blindness in children. Anyone who does not clear up after their dog obviously does not care about this or is ignorant. Which one are you JW.?

Anyway, what if you are a blind person ? How are they supposed to see the mess you allow your dog to leave.

You dont appear a fit person to have a dog.

i think someone opened a can of worms here!

normally horses dont poo on the pavement where people walk, or where children play, however dogs do.

remember what you feed a horse... hay and water

dogs get fed allsorts!

what gets me irate about horses isnt the animal or the poo, its the irresponsible riders, either wearing no protective clothing or reflective clothing and worst of all no helmet.

a few lasses ride around the village and on more than one occasion one hand on the rein and the other either txting or on the phone.

persoanlly i dont slow down for horses anymore.. if the horse is afraid of vehicles.. IT SHOULDNT BE ON THE FRIGGIN ROAD!

###But they poo in the road where bikes ride etc###

###apples carrots mints sugar beet, feed supplements eg Equilibra Alpha A. Fairly similar to what dogs get fed###

HE HE HE HE HE................

I thought i would see if i got a bite.  My Dog ran in the fields not walked on a chain on the road, He was too lively for that.  I never picked up his mess though.  I am aware of parasites and don't care, afaik it is mainly strays that carry that parasite, hence it breaking out estates where the mongers roam............ :P

very true. Driving a car that likes to pop and bang out of the exhaust when you have to drive slowly at the right speed also makes it more interesting for the horses!

You are irresponsible. I do look where I walk but kids don't and in the dark I cannot see where I am walking.

Selfish and hopefully fined.

Its the worry about kids coming into contact with dog poo that gets me. Fair enough if you live in an area surrounded by fields I would not expect a dog owner to pick up the poo but not on the pavement where the kids play.

Never mind the dogs, it's (EDIT) cats! whenever we (read Julie) clean up after our dogs, in our garden mind, next day, cat (EDIT), everywhere.  Next door has had to get 2 cars resprayed because of cat scratches, whilst on his own drive.  Licenced, they should be shot.  Anybody who owns a pet and chucks it out to go cr4p on someone else's garden should have all the dog poo that's collected in the world dumped on their sofa, whilst they are in it, then be washed down with stale yacks [throw it].

It took me about 6 months to retrain the cat next door to me when I first  moved in.

It was used to wandering into my garden and doing it's mess in a bit of the garden which had some bedding plants.

I had a jug of water at the ready by the door and each time the cat came over the fence, I would quietly open the door and throw the water all over it. You would have thought it would have given up long before it did.

It won't even look at our garden any more

I have 5 dogs and thay can crap where they like so long as it's not inside the house but what really gets my goat is used nappies strewn up the side of the motorway and people who collect their dogs mess in a plastic bag and chuck it in a bush or hang it on a tree. G

I used to use washing up liquid if they did it in my garden. They don't do it now cos the dogs scare em away.

I feel this is a subject where we can easily brand people into a stereotype! You will always have responsible people in each group, as well as the ones who give the group a bad name.

I quite often see dog owners let their dogs mess on the pavement, even though we have the dog bins around the town.

As a horse rider I choose not to ride on the road, as most drivers dont slow down even though I wear a yellow tabard and ride horses who are good in traffic. I ALWAYS thank people if i meet them on a byway and they let me pass.

And as for the diet thing, horses dont eat meat (unlike dogs) thats why it doesnt smell as bad  :D
4x4x4play! ;) They call me Emms...
