before that monunental faux pas. I wasn't a Dr who fan but was slowly warming to it. Unfortunatly that line calling a landy a jeep has runied it!

you need to consider the care factor of those who wrote and those who obtained the vehicles for the program

the writer may know his jeep from his lr but the production mgr (i think thats the right one?) may not and a 4x4 is a 4x4 to him.

an oversight on his part and on others for not noticing the difference before going on air which upset those who know which is which.

not sure if you write in if the person reading the letter will take you seriously

just a warning in case nothing will be done about it

I've got to agree with that afront to Solihulls dignity.

But!
Don't forget to Mr & Mrs Average (including BBC scriptwriters), JEEP is just a generic term.
For example;
Any vacuum cleaner is a 'Hoover';
A ball-point pen is a 'Biro'
A cola type soft drink is 'Coke'
etc......

All brand-names but carelessly used by practically everyone

Considering Land Rover copied the Jeep, I do not see a problem

Also as a footnote, some of you guys really need to get some "real" issues in your lives...To say that the reaction is anal, is an understatement.

Disregarding the fact that I drive a Jap motor I will not be complaining.

For once it's a bit of TV on the beeb where a 4x4 is NOT seen as public enemy #1  :D  :D  :D  :D

So let them slide on the description, they DIDN'T have a go at us.

Yeah, they should have said "Poor mans Jeep"  :twisted:

Face it guys, "Land Rover" is never going to have the same ring as Jeep, same as Dyson is the copy of a real Hoover as pointed out above, You don't go to "Electrolux" that rug, you hoover it. Anything that looks ready for mud is a Jeep :)

Hey! Never mind the bl**dy Jeep business we've just spotted TWO of our lasers parked in the backround!!! Both pointing at the the Dalek globe.

Both machines must be at least 15 years old.....how wierd is that?

I rang Autoglass on Friday, according to their system the LSE is a Land Rover Jeep Ranger.

For heaven's sake, pick one, that's 3 different cars, and it's not the Jeep so don't insult me and it's not the re-badged Mazda.

Anyway, the right glass did turn up but after an hour the guy gave up defeated and put my car back together, unfixed.  Apparently it's a 3 hour job in the depot, not the hour on the end of my drive he'd been given :roll:

I wasn't amused

Must admit.....I missed the insult to landie owners when it was referred to as a 'Jeep'.......I was too busy feeling sorry for them making such a long journey in it! Long way to drive an old Landie!

Now......where the hell is my hard hat! lol

Good point, roofus, but I imagine they really didn't go to Norway, probably didn't go as far north as Watford, but looks good to say the old landy went from London to Northern Norway though :wink:

Sorry guys but I do think it's a bit sad to get that upset about something so silly.

Look at the meaning of Jeep rather than the brand; it about sums up the earll LR's anyway.
