I think its worth £1750 ish its all down to condition, I have seen same ones go for £800-£2400, I paid £2600 for a 1994 300TDi but its a five door, in very good nick, people told me it was too dear but all the others I looked at needed extensive welding or the transmission was shot.
I looked at 5 and spent a full day and £20 on diesel.
You can spend days or even months looking for the best cheap one.
My advice if you like it and its not too dear buy it.
One went throught the auctions last week for £700, but no come back not even a chance to rev it up, you pay your money and take your chance.
Try him for £1500
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

I paid £1000 for mine 1991 200tdi 137k.  Bit rough around the edges, no elec windows (bonus in my book) and a clunk taking up drive.  It could well be worth 1750 but mine was just for a second car to abuse so it didnt have to be a tidy one.

I wouldnt buy anything at auction.  Many a bargain to be had but can be some serious faults you cant possibly see.  I got good money for a cavalier auto with no reverse years back.  Know a bloke that bought a nissan almera at auction only to find it had no oil in it.  Turned out oil had been removed as it burnt it that badly you couldnt read the rear reg!  No oil = no smoke.  :(
I have seen a few people tow cars to round the corner from our local auction and only drive em the last 200 yrds.  Sod that, much better ways of buying cars than taking chances at the block.

I think people are paying over the odds for them at the moment because a lot of the comics have been syaing they are a bargain for a while now.  TBH the Disco 1 is getting long in the tooth and hasn't aged as well as the RRC  eyt prices are higher for Discos than RRC with much lower spec.  It's all in the perception.

I wouldn't want to pay that for a standard Disco unless it was a minter.  That said I insured Blue for £5k and he is an E reg.  Look at condition first, then mileage, then age.

Kooga is a 1993 3.5 Efi in pretty good nick complete with under sill LPG conversion.  She was a little bit rough but solid enough, no chassis rot, boot floor reasonable.  All I did for the MOT was a shocker and brake pads.  She's got a small clunk on taking up drive but nothing serious and has 134k on the clock.

She cost me £980 with 6 months test but I retested her when I got her.
