This subject seems to crop up a lot as I have found using the search. However the problem I have doesn't seem to feature yet.
I have no problem using the tilt operation. It tilts up and back down again. But when I slide the sunroof open the motor doesn't want to know when I press to slide it back. Anyone any ideas why?

I hope you know there is a micro switch to make the sunroof pause in the closed position rather than go from tilted to slide open without stopping. You could call it a park switch. Check this is working, or perhaps easier, check there is current to the motor when trying to open
As an alternative, take out you key and try opening it manually, then see if it closes.

Thanks for the reply. But the problem is after opening it on slide. When I come to close it the motor doesn't want to know so I have to close it manually with the T key - a pain when on the move!

Sorry i didn't read that properly (it was late  ) anyway, i might suggest that your mechanism is sticky or the motor has a problem in that it doesn't produce the same torque when closing as opening, but my first shot would be the mechanism is full of cack. Give it a soaking in WD40.
Is it really stiff to turn by hand?
Have you tried wiring the motor up directly?

It's not too difficult to close by hand, I'll try the WD40 tonight. The Haynes states there should be a relay just inside the interior light flap, but there is nothing there on mine. I was wondering if it might be a faulty relay but I can't find it?

Ok get a meter (hell a bulb is better than nowt) and checkif there is any current to the motor when it should be closing.

Dont think ive ever had a sunroof that worked properly, it normally the small drive gear on the motor not engageing with the worm properly, the teeth may be hooked so it grabs ok in one direction but not the other. They seem to have chosen to make this little but so important cog out of the finest quality butter!! Been awhile since looking at one now but think theres a cover plate you can take off and watch what its doing as you operate it.

It's just lack of power to the motor on the return direction, but not when on tilt just slide!.
I'm taking my Scout Troop off on camp tonight, Near tarn Hows in the lake district, so will have to leave it until another week. Strangely my camps take place a long way off the road
