Fancy paying £25 a day for straying into London in a 4x4 or maybe even a people carrier ?

Mr Livingstone seems to think thats a fair price according to Reuters

See here for details

Just a thought thats crossed my ever wandering mind, does LPG show lower emissions at the exhaust ?
Watch out theres a tigger about!

Maybe someone will just club him over the head

tax 4x4 and people carriers that can carry 7 people and dont tax the cars that only carry one person think they are getting it around the wrong way
should tax single occupant vehicles to try and cut down the congestion or ban all cars ond employ the ramblers to carry everone around

So hang on...... Me, 6 passengers and Bio diesel will cost as much as taking in 3 regular cars????

Somebody needs to teach that )(*& some basic Maths!

I live in the east end, and my motor dont turn a wheel most of the week, but there is nothing quite like driving round the centre in a mud splattered 4x4 proving that not all of them do nothing more than the school run & tescos.

they are not interested in the environment it is just a money making excuse, if the buses and other forms of public transport were brought up to the 21st century then maybe people would leave thier cars at home, but to travel on a rush hour tube or train {7am-9am) involves standing room only and you would not be able to transport livestock in the manner that passengers travel on the tubes !!  So ken should you read this come election time you still will not get my vote .

Feel better for that !

Im glad I work my own hours :) whilst public transport is generally pretty good, its at capacity. If I have to be in the office at a "normal" time, I will go in at 6 just to avoid the sardine experience.

If I take into account time and comfort as well as money, it would not actually be much worse, probably much better, for me to drive into the city and pay the extortion charge than be crammed in with the rest of the cattle. After all in my motor I can use my phone (yes proper hands free kit!) and dont then feel the need to shower again the minute I get into the office, and feel much more relaxed and ready to sit down and face a days work.

It's got b***er all to do with the environment, Red Ken is a master at riding the 'spin' of anti 4x4 feeling (perceaved or real) and is hopping on the band wagon.  He's a t!t, from the same mould as T B Liar.

LPG, virtually zero measurabel emissions, depending on what method you use.  Definetly cleaner, much more H2O, that's why your engine last longer, further lowering your carbon footprint.  A Disco is better for the enbvironment than a Toyato Prius.

It's about time we all boycotted London, I never liked the place anyway and I don't see why it has to be the be-all and end-all centre of attention it's cracked up to be.  It's just somewhere for the tourists to go so they don't mess up the countryside.

Theres a whole host of things that could be done to reduce inner city pollution.

Reduced car ownership within the supposedly brilliant public transport areas of London might help.  Tokyo only allows cars to be registered at an address if there is off street parking for the vehicle for every vehicle.

How about no on-street parking if you live on a bus route ?

Banning non catalysed vehicles from the city centre ?

Electric buses might reduce emissions locally but with the penalty of placing more load on power stations and more CO2 elsewhere.

The bottom line here is Ken is taking a stick to all us people that live outside his little patch and subsequently have no power to vote him out.
The only thing left to do is avoid London completely which I have done quite well.  Only been there once in the last three years.

And as if by magic I have to go and audit a data centre smack in the middle of London on monday.

Maybe I should buy one of these for my boot lid
