We are hitting £1.00 a litre in some areas.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don 't buy petrol on a "certain day"
campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at
that because they knew we wouldn 't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy
petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that Can really work.

Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have
conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, We need to take aggressive
action to teach them that BUYERS control the Market place not sellers. With the price
of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way
we are going to see the price of petrol come down Is if we hit someone in the pocket
by not purchasing their petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil
companies (which are now one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they
will be inclined to reduce their prices. If They reduce their prices, the other companies
will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions Of
Esso and BP petrol buyers. It 's really simple to do!! Now, don 't wimp out at this
point... Keep reading and I' ll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

So spread the word to as many people as possible. That 's all.(and not buy at
ESSO/BP) If each of us sends this email within one day of receipt, 300 MILLION
people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!!

That's s how much potential we have! Acting together we can make a difference. If this
makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE
RANGE

It' s easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell,
Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Jet etc.

Let's Boycott BP and Esso.

Only problem with that is actually knowing who else BP and Esso supply. I know most of the big supermarkets get their fuel from the big companies so how do we know who to actually tick off our lists :?

Slight flaw in your plan, it would take about a full tank to get there (without the racer on the back).

Unless everyone boycotts filling up for a considerable amount of time, it will do nothing to alter fuel prices.

Well its nice to here some of you like the idea..... No harm in trying.... I have fund this posted on quite a few diffrent places now and there was a better responce on most of them. This thing about supermarket fuel is not truth.... Old wives tail.... It all comes from the same source. Someone once told me they was getting sand in there fuel and they even kicked up a stink about it with the fuel station. Only to find out that the last owner of the 4x4 had been messing about in the sea alot and not water proofed his motor and then drowned it in the sea then had to get it pulled out the next day. He syponed the tank and re filled it got it running to sell it on......never thought it would have sand in the bottom of the tank. So owner No 2 had to change filters every month thinking it was the fuel station.....he he he

If cost of fuel is that much of an issue then go and buy a nissan micra - No amount of boycotting or hopping up and down at the cost will make the slightest bit of difference to the cost
Explain to me how the price is going to come down below 69p/l when at present 80 odd pence of the cost is duty ??? - as already said HM government aint going to cut their share and I find it highly unlikely the oil co.'s will start giving it away at a loss
Time to get real and wake up and smell the coffee !
I am happy driving Landrovers and therefore happy to pay the price to fill them up - end of story
Anyway, there are only two filling stations here - both charging the same (diesel 97.9p ) - I can save 2p/l by paying £12.00 to get a ferry and a 1 hour round trip  - doesn't seem much point !

Nice idea but as already said it won't work as esso and BP supply alot of supermarkets etc anyway.

As for 69p per litre, that means the fuel co's would be making a loss, remember its mostly tax and for the 40 odd p the fuel company get they have to source the fuel, refine it, deliver it, staff forecourts, maintain pumps etc.

Besides fuel co's make little out of domestic fuel anyway so probably would take a long time to give a damn but would use it as a good excuse to axe jobs and put people out of work.

I think the main reason for the lack of responce on here is because this has been going for the best part of two years and has been on here three times that I can remember.

About the only thing that will bring the price of fuel down is a reduction in the tax on it, you won't get much from the companies no matter how you try to hit them.

You let me know know when your fuel price reaches the same as it is up here and I'll feel sorry for you. The price of diesel has been over £1.00 per litre since August 2005.

The prices today are 105.9p per litre for diesel and 103.9p per litre for petrol, and that's at the cheapest petrol station on the island!

We only have National and BP stations on the island and all the fuel that feeds those come in by boat from Grangemouth and is held in the same tanks until the road tankers arrive to distribute it.

I usually go to Tesco or Morrisons as they do LPG, I keep an eye on prices and the Total place in Worksop is a good benchmark for what's cheap.

Spend £50 at Tesco and get 5p a litre off you fuel, go on, do it.  They are giving their fuel away and the rest of the industry hates them, I had friend who worked in the industry and I've heard it first hand.

I saved £4.50 today taking the LSE in to Tesco (shame I picked the most expensive Tesco :roll: ) and if the fools are going to keep doing that, I'm going to keep shopping there.

As already said most of the cost per litre is for TAX so why not organise a slow drive around parlimant square !

I have been test driving Merc's all day and I have to say I though their new 320 Cdi (24valve and 0-62.5 in 7.2 seconds) is great 8)
I tried the ML and the e class and at 40+ MPG I would have one of those !
We topped 100 MPH and the trip said 27.8 MPG ! 8)
Shame they are £50+K

Everyone moans about this and that but at the end of the day Nothing will change.
People say " its cheap to live in spain" or "the fuels cheap in the states"
But in reality Its not that bad a place to live in the UK

I've heard that too - but how does it explain the power loss and drop in MPG whenever I am "forced" to use supermarket fuel?  
While Tesco had their 5p off per litre (when you spend £50 in store), I was filling up there every week, never getting over 24mpg, and my Disco drove like a milk float.
Now I'm using Esso (closest to home) and MPG never drops below 26 and the performance is much better.  This is the case with BP too.  (Starting in the winter months also improved when I switched.)

There is a Morrisons, Tesco, BP and Esso garage all within 3 miles of my house, and the price at the pumps is often the same at every one of them.

So if it all comes from the same source, and for me the prices are pretty much the same around town - why boycott?
If we boycott the majors and switch to supermarket fuels, then the overall sale of fuel does not change, it's just sold from different pumps.

i fill up at morrisons or shell,there is no differnce in the mpg or performance of my everyday car.yet i fill up at jet or texico and the mpg drops and i get a smokey car!bp is more expensive anyways so i don't use em!oh by the way miniman,the beast that is my zook has gone earlier 2day

If the oil companies only make about 20p/l then the answer clearly doesn't lie with them
I'm all for cheaper fuel and if some form of boycott will make any difference then fine,count me in - I won't be holding my breath though  :lol:

I used to work with control systems for the fuel industry so I have a little insider knowledge.
The core fuel be it unleaded or diesel is exactly the same as it has to conform to British standards.  
The magic ingredient is the additive which is mixed as the tanker loads up at the depot.


The ratio for this escapes me but I think it was around 25ml in 40 litres of unleaded.

I was responsible for logging into a few shell sites early one morning and "turning off" the formula shell additive when Vauxhalls started dropping valves.

So Tesco trucks will queue up with Mobil or BP trucks to get the same fuel but usually without the additive.
The additives themselves were a fairly aggresive solvent requiring special pipework and filters.  Brass mesh filters were allegedly dissolved by some of these additives.

As has been mentioned by others it's the tax that makes up a considerable amount of the fuel costs (aprox 65%), remember you are paying VAT and then Fuel Duty. The refineries have no control over this.
 Recent price rises however have been imposed by the producers. This is due to the cost per barrel of oil going up because of shortages caused by recent events in Iraq and Hurricane Katrina damaging allot of rigs and US refineries. The prices per barrel will more than likely start falling as the damaged rigs and refineries are starting to come back online.

.......also we moan about the tax but how else can they raise the revenue to fund the NHS, emergency services, Education System Benefit’s system, Transport infrastructure, thieving, no good ba..... err politicians etc the list is endless.

 A country isn’t a cheap thing to run.
