I was up at Masham Steam Rally this morning, quietly minding my own business, having a cup of tea in the back of the 110.
I'd already been round the show & was planning on going back to pick at the auto-jumble & watch the steam parade

When into the parking fields pulled a flotilla of Discoverys, with one very familiar vehicle amongst them.

Does anyone know why I used that particular spelling in the title?
No points at all for guesing

Chaps.
Glad you enjoyed youselves

It was a decent show again, but then, they've now had 40years of practice.

I fell for the 1/2" scale Burrell, the (BIG) blue showmans, but I daren't think what it'd cost if he wanted to sell it :(scared):
Failing that I'd settle for one of the Field-Marshalls, with their unique starting mechanism

I've been to a local 'Historic Vahicle' show this morning , went with Dan ('22900013A'), some nice kit there
Then, to the air-show at Breighton this afternoon
Saw the Hurricane take-off, perform & land. Nice =D>
Came away before the ME109 & Spitfire went up though

the showmans engines where a bit flashy for my liking but the kids loved the working scale model engines. Katie(the youngest) was amazed they all had different names  :D

For me the highlight was laurel and hardy (they where really great and interacted with the kids as well even when not in the arena) and the working engines.

and by unique stater mechanisim do you mean the blowlamp pre heater

Most showmans engines were named, as were the road-locomotives (as owned by Norman Box, etc....)

This is the half-inch scale Burrell I wantSimplicity
It's about 10foot long & 4foot high!!

Field-Marshalls don't use a blow-torch, that's a Bollander(?) type engine,where the combustion chamber is pre-heated

Marshalls were started with an 'Igition paper',a shotgun catridge (minus the shot)& a hammer

Marshalls of Gainsborough (Lincolnshire)
Series 2

[quote="landyloony"Simplicity was great there some serious hours been spent there[/quote]
In comparison, Real Life Toys rexkon it takes 40man-hours to complete a 'Toy-Lander' properly(bar paint drying time)!
I'd reckon on between 2000-2500man-hours for somethingas largeas 'Simplicity'
With a fullsize engine, parts can be found & plenty of suppliers, practically everything will have to be made for this
