I have a Tachometer from http://www.lowtension.com As you can see, the website is no longer active.

Now, when I bought this some years ago, I never new what a TD5 was, so perhaps I have purchased in error :oops: , nonetheless, my question is thus;

Will a '333.TD5  Land Rover Tachometer' from Lowtension work on my 300TDi :?:
It was supplied with fitting instructions and a wire connector to place within the Alternator wiring plug, one assumes from this it can :?:

When Low Tension used to list there gauges in eBay they appeared to be universal.

 The fact that it it's supplied with alternator fitting instructions  I’d imagine it would work.

Just done a quick Google and got the instructions that used to be on the lowtension site.

The tachometer output from the Td5 ECU is very low - even measuring with an oscilloscope the signal is small. We have boosted the DC offset to the standard VDO tachometer to enable it to function in the same way as the original equipment tachometer.

 Looking at this I would have thought it would work but read wrong???? maybe someone with better micro electronics knowledge can give a definitive answer.

Thanks for all the advice chaps, as Colin states, it's not that difficult and was pleasantly surprised it worked first time.

 :idea:  I had to set the potentiometer to it's minimum setting with all the dip switches off for it to match the 750rpm.

Depends on you’re gearing and tyre setup.  What tyres are you running?

 Mine 200TDi dose 3000rpm at 50MPh.

Actually, No, a Tachometer is a rev counter. There is also a second kind of Tacho, called a Tachograph That is used in HGVs to monitor speed. It works by projecting a laser onto a round disk, with time and speed printed on it.

I see 49MPH for 2000RPM (in 5th) with 235/85 BFG A/T's (factory fitted tacho)

unless you have the needle type that draws on the disc, and it monitors working hours mainly
