Had a close shave on the way home from Billing Sunday.
Due to th M1 being closed (thanks Neil) went home down the A1.
Just as I was on the last leg after Borehamwood coming down to Apex Corner, doing about 45-50 on the outside lane, I saw a MX5 start to come across the carrageway in my direction, I had to take some sort of action to stop being hit so accerated and had to move over towards the cental resevation, the car kept coming, so I had to try and kep out of the way (couldn't just slam brakes on as the following cars were to close).
I hit the kerb and bounced off, then hit it again and a third time, the Disco rolled about a bit as this was happening, the Mx5 driver had just passed in front of me and kept going.
I dont think SHE had any idea what was happening.
I then managed to control the roll and looking the rear veiw mirrors signalled to pull across the carriagway and off the road into a golf clubs carpark to asses the damage. Funnily enogh the following cars had all slowed down, allowing me to got over.
When got out to see if I'd damaged the wheels and tyres, I couldn't see anything wrong with them.
Good job I had my steel wheels and Mud tyres (thicker sidewalls) on.
I think my Discovery is still in shock as its not running right at the moment.
As for me I just look at as yet another close shave. and will continue to except that other road users are (a) idiots (b) dangerous.
