I've been trying to find some info on BBC web pages about the new apc's the army are going to be getting to replace the snatch vechicles in iraq.
While looking though I found this

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/highlands_and_islands/5210222.stm

and this on the replacements for the snatch vechicles

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5210788.stm

Great to see that the MOD are looking at sorting an obvious problem but would be nice to of seen them going for a british product for at least one of the replacements

Pinzgauer became a British product in 2000, when the rights to the vehicle were acquired by Automotive Technik Holdings Ltd. OK, they were taken over by an American company in 2005, but production is still in the UK - so basically as British as LR.

Whilst you have pics of the telehandler and fastrax there are new trucks that have just been launched - i live all of about 2 miles from the JCB World HQ and they had the press launch about 3 weeks ago. There should be some pics floating about somewhere.

No, the HMVRT (high mobility variable reach truck) and the HMUV (high mobility utility vehicle) - both launched on the 29th June 2006 at the UK's Defence Vehicle Dynamics exhibition, and of course to the press @ the HQ down the road!

Canna say i know what the indose is like, only seen them from the outside but their existing milly product range seems to be a big hit around the world so i dare say these will meet the grade.

They do, do, trick shows and things and have a display team from memory with dancing diggers! Just out on a private estate is a testing ground which you can look over from some of the local hills to see the new stuff being tested and broken!

Down side is of course lorry after lorry of every concievable JCB pooring up and down the roads from one plant to another, gets a bit annoying @ 3-4am when they thunder past over the potholes caused by them driving too fast making the whole house shake!!!

erm, is it just me or does that bear a striking resemblance to a certain LAMA that Land Rover prototyped a few years back?????http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fuk.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dland%2Brover%2Bprototype%26ei%3DUTF-8%26fr%3DFP-tab-img-t340%26x%3Dwrt&w=360&h=274&imgurl=www.expeditionlandrover.info%2FLR.images%2FLlama.JPEG&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.expeditionlandrover.info%2FphotoWebPages%2FLlama.htm&size=28.8kB&name=Llama.JPEG&p=land+rover+prototype&type=jpeg&no=1&tt=105&ei=UTF-8
