Stolen bike returned
« on: August 02, 2006, 20:04:02 »
This is an unusual one, My lad had his bike nicked from his girlfriends house about 10 days ago, myself and my mate Mud Magnet, trawled round the area for about 45mins to no avail, me in the disco and my lad and pat in my hybrid, surprised we didn't get pulled with the looks we were giving all the locals with bikes.

No luck, so wrote it up to another lost one, today my lad had a call from his g/f, she had spotted the bike and recognised the person riding and a possible contact address, three of us turned up on this woman's doorstep, and politely explained the situation and person, she was a bit annoyed as her lad was involved too, but not the thief.

I gave her my number and she said she would make a couple of enquiries

Half an hour later I had a call on the mobile from someone, saying his bike is at an address, chained and locked to a fence, key under the seat, and it seems this lad had been punished for his sins, by his elder brother.

Pat went round and collected it, it was as was before is was stolen

I never threatened anyone but I explained that we were still looking for the bike and the police were not being brought into it. We will deal with it ourselves.

The address i went to was not involved with the actual theft, and I think she was telling the truth on that score

End of day, one bike returned, one thief punished, and as we discovered one thief is related to my lads g/f, and her family is now involved in seeing this lads father, someone decided to lift the wrong item I think

Firstly I appologise for adding humour to what is a serious post but .... stop nicking my work!

Glad you got it sorted though - sadly most times what comes back is a battered shell with an engine that wants to curl up and give up.
Way back then - life crawled out of the mud, then it decided life was better and crawled back in!
