For those that remember my rear bumper at Billing.......
« on: August 04, 2006, 22:29:52 »
Its on!!!
I worked out that instead of grinding away the rear cross member and weakening it i could just grind of the captive nuts from the bracket and push the new allen headed bolts down through the rear cross member and it slotted into place.
The only bit now is it sits slightly low and i cant get one of the 4 holding bolts on.
I'll adjust that in the morning.
Looks a lot better now.
This picture show the captive nuts gone and the allen bolts pushed down through instead of upwards.
This picture shows how i finished the fixing with nuts on the bottom.
This picture shows the grip tape in place and this picture shows it sitting level.
The last nut will be in place tomorrow.
<phew>
For those that are interested its a Disco Parts heavy duty rear bumper.

Fitted mine last weekend, doesn't quite line up though. :(

I think they need to check their mesurments. oh and the welds showed up a little to much so had to grid them down and repaint.

Lovely bit of kit though.
Cheers.

Since my last disapointments whilst refitting the rear bumper i have removed it again and modified it.
The bumper was a bit tight and scratched the rear quarter panels.
So i have grinded back both of the edges (which would have been the end caps if it was still standard)

Picture 2
Also i have rust proofed the plate which sits on the Rear cross member
I drilled out the 4 fixing holes too. Now the 4 bolts go into place (instead of just 3)
Then it was time for a Coat of paint
The bumper now sits Perfectly straight and i'm happy as a pig in ****

It was funny watching you struggle trying to fit the bumper at billings and then finding your rear cross member was twisted, or bumper was skew wiff.
Nice to hear you got it on properly.
