Rear window seal replacement
« on: August 09, 2006, 13:28:03 »
The fixed rear side windows and rear door window seals on my disco are cracked and split at the corners.

Has anyone out there ever replaced these and if so how much did it cost?

Is it a DIY job or did you go to a main/franchise dealer or an autoglass type firm.

Any info would be appreciated.

I just filled the cracks with black silicone sealer, much easier & still water tight!    :D

Sorry not got a photo of the one's I did as I havn't got the Discovery anymore.

All I did was use some masking tape to follow the corner of the window rubber round, applied the silicon in the cut and then smoothed it with a wet finger towards the glass.. after a few mins I then removed the masking tape.

Hard to spot unless you knew what you were looking for.

Thanks for that.

For the cost of a tube of sealant I might give it try.  Ican always go the replacement route later if I still feel the need.

Cheers
