Just seen the news, I hope no-one is put out for to long. We are on the wrong side of the channel at the moment, and got pushed through port security for the first time, so there is deffo something big going down....

Fingers crossed they are aware of *ALL* the parallel plots!

My brother-in-law flew down from Glasgow a couple of days ago and the airport was searching all luggage then. So they were somewhat ahead of the public announcement. He flew back today. There doesn't appear to be the same level of disruption to domestic flights as to international ones. I understand the targets were trans-atlantic according to the reports.

I just walked out of the room when the news was on, because I was getting too angry at what's happening in the world.

The total [insert rudest words you know] who caused this will get legal representation at the tax payers expense, and probably get let off on a technicality.

I can't think of anything to write that isn't going to get me banned from the board for inciting racial hatred.

 :(bigangry):

This is the kind of sweeping generalising that throws fuel on the fire.

NOT the followers of Islam...

SOME followers of Islam.

As a young Catholic child in Glasgow I had to run past the Protestent school every day. If I didn't... the [picka word} would catch me.

My father took me to join the Cubs... in the Protestant school... all went well... was playing with the other cubs... making friendships... till the leader asked me what school I went to... When I mentioned the Catholic school they turned white and said I had to leave.

A few years ago... a man was murdered as he walked past a pub on a match day... because he was wearing the "Catholic" team colours, he had his throat slit.

All of the examples above are because of a person being lumped with a religious group.

Come on people... PLEASE... we are ALL individuals, black, white, christian, moslem, agnostic, even the Americans.  Please... choose language carefully to identify the people who are really guilty here... those who are selling a VERSION of Islam that contradicts what mainstream believers believe, those who are brainwashing impressionable young people to turn to their ways... and yes... those of us who through ignorance.. throw fuel on the fire that pushes otherwise reasonable people in that direction.

Evbery human has a right to their opinion and I will fight for their right to express it... but please... think about impact first.

One thing that the news don't mention is I think the security servises have done a damn good job.

They get hammered if they miss a small thing, time to show the world how right they usually get it in this country.

Interesting point... I'de love to discuss it further but you and I both know that is not possible on this forum. I also have tales of religious bigotry, and when I say that I in no way wish to make light of your experiances.. I find it appalling that religious beliefs and ideology cause so much pain and suffering. I just believe that with regard to Islam my "sweeping generalisation" as you put it , is valid.... and I do engage my brain before putting my mouth in gear....
The " through ignorance" comment was a little bit strong.. bit of a generalisation there.. ! If I have a view that differs from yours, and before you have heard my arguements for my opinion, you are accusing me of being ignorant ?...
Feel free to pm me if you are interested in talking this one through a while....
And to the moderators...ok... il'e be quiet now...

Matey... it was an inclusive statement not a directed one.

As you feel it was directed at you, I unreservedly apologise.

The warning to us all is still appropriate... loose use of language can alienate people who we need to combat this kind of menace.

Ban all religion except the worship of mud, women and beer. No scrap that because we may end up fighting because we can't get enough of one or the other
