Urgent Help in Nottingham ?
« on: August 11, 2006, 16:01:01 »
Bit of a shot in the dark but if anyone local to Nottingham can help... Homer is currently at the side of the A453 between the M1 and Nottingham with a small brake problem - a bolt has dropped out of one of the front caliper's and he's now losing lots of brake fluid.

If anyone's local and feels like a run out or can point him in the direction of a dealer/garage etc. PM me for his mobile number.

On any normal day, when I am in the UK, I'd have been there like a shot....but alas - too far from Rijnsburg :(

He's tried the local dealer who said everyone's gone home but gave him some more numbers to try
I think Hissy is going to see if he can pick some bits up to see what he can do.
If all else fails I said to get recovered to ours, we can put him and his lads up for the night and have a look at it in the morning.

Now guys, this is what Mud-Club is all about, I'm proud to be a member of a club that reaches out to help its members like this.

Good on you guys, keep the good work up.

I hope Homer gets everything sorted.

They appear to have it sorted, got a new pipe and bolt although the pipe is about 4" short so the flexible pipe is going to be "repositioned" until he can sort the right pipe out.

Should be on the road to Hull again hopefully in a bit :D

He phoned at 6.45pm to say the RAC man had got him the length of copper brake pipe which is now fitted and he's back on the road with a 'get you there and back and probably round town a bit longer' repair

Thanks to all those who offered etc. etc.  :D

Glad he's sorted Chris,
Like Kev I've just come on and have enough spares to have sorted him out.

He's on his way up to Hull to pick his daughter up - would imagine he's not far from there now.
Dropping in at ours on Sunday so I'll try and pick some copper pipe and bits up tomorrow to replace the pipe with a permanent solution.

If he's swinging down the m1 tomorrow, between me and ed we have all the parts for pipe replacement on hand, and just off the m1, drop me a bell if he wants

Cheers Kev, I'll pass that on to him - I think he's camping in Hull until Sunday morning and coming back down then - we're expecting them just after midday.

Chris,

Will you need a flaring tool and double bleeder? If so I'll bring them down after I've been to Wolverhampton computer fair in the morning.

Slightly off topic but would it not be a good idea to have an area on the board where people freely give their location and telephone number/email/address so if an emergency such as this happens again then a 'local' to the situation can be called by anyone ?

I know this works on other forums and mostly there are little to no problems, if i had read it sooner i am close enough to have been there in 20 minutes or so and been able to fix it.

Sorry i missed it

Hi Everyone,

Well what can I say? What a fantastic response to my request for help. Luckily the RAC got me on my way again, but it looks like MC would have got me going in the end anyway.

Thanks to ChrisW for starting this thread in the first place, and for also going out of his way to try and get a new pipe sorted.

Many thanks to everyone else for offers of help, thanks to Hissy who made the trip to his local spares place on Friday evening, only to find they couldnt help.

I will make sure I bring a few extra beers with me to Malvern

Now, who can tell me the best place to order a new pipe from

Cheers!

Mark
