Congratulations.
Its a nightmare trying to afford a house unless you relocate somewhere cheaper.
Out of curiousity...How much was it and what do you get for you money?

I wondered if any one would notice the floor plan! nope rest assured we are not a couple sharing the double, there is a dinette double whic we are turning into a permanent bed room. and putting a table in the living area!

Aah, thats ok then because changing the dining area into a bed on a daily basis would be a right pain and you'd be sick of it after a week!

The new floor plan sounds more suited.

Whats going to happen to the landy though, or have you got a floating garage  behind :D

the landy will be kept winkwell dock, which is a boat yard where we will be moored for the time being! we are on the waiting list for a mooring at apsley lock which is a nice new marina.
cant belive how quickly everything has gone through, three weeks ago we hadnt even applied for a mortgage and now we have the deposit paid and the boat secured as ours  :D

A friend of mine did exactly the same many years ago. He saved everything he earned, packed in work and bought a narrow boat. He now leads a simple life, working in boat yards for extra cash and living off the interest of his savings. He sold his original boat a couple of years ago and is in the process of building one to his spec now.

Probably because it's so slow, and doesn't go on the M25

Congratulations there mate, I know how scary buying a house can be, We couldn't afford this place between us now and I bought it on my own 'a few years' ago.
