Gave a hand but shifting 20 is a bit much for a disco........Put the winch on  which has a 10 ton pull but there were parts off the truck burying itself and when the clutch starting smelling a wee bit on the truck the driver decided to give  in rather than really face the rath...of his boss......

4 Leggers ain't THAT heavy!

I suppose it depends on the depth of the tarmac & sub-base, but it is close to the edge of it

On a similar note, I was heading along the A64 yesterday afternoon (16:30-ish?) towards the A1 & spotted a Police Land-Cruiser that was about to (or had) tow a artic & tanker trailer off the east-bound carriageway to the south of York

Hmm I doubt a four legger could be 20t to be honest, 15/16 max. My dad used to have a 6 Wheeler Leyland Constructor tipper which was 21T loaded.

It could be 20t but not legally. Legally it would be 18 max.

I reckon he wanted to join the off road fraternity but couldn't afford a landy at the moment so figured his truck would do fine

Good on you for helping out though - good to see people mucking in  :)
