Freelander part-ex value!
« on: August 16, 2006, 09:37:39 »
Not technical discussion but I thought it was interesting...

Some friends have a Freebie about 2yo, 38,000 miles, TD4.  They paid £20K or so when they bought it.

They're looking to change it for a VW Eos.  They want to part-ex it.  And they've been quoted 4 GRAND for it!

I've told them on no circumstances should they sell it for 4K unless it's to me.

I wonder how many people just take this at face value and lose thousands of pounds on their motor?

We got 4.5k for our 2001 V6 ... told you all some months ago the Freelander market was broken and it would get worse.

Yep I'm with doobreydog on that one - 4k????? tell them to go back to the garage and ask the salesman to put on a red nose some face paint and big shoes just so they can get the full effect of the offer

Check parkers guide for good ideas of value for any car considering year mileage etc - You'll be surprised they are usually sopt on and most garages / showrooms use the Parkers or Glass books to get a figure.

The newer style hippo's will drop a little in price due to the iminent release of the LR2 but I get the feeling (and this is just a hunch) the LR2 isn't going to be such a hot seller - nothing to do with the fact I think it's butt ugly    If I wanted X-trail I'd have bought one lol and this new look is closer to that than anything else
Way back then - life crawled out of the mud, then it decided life was better and crawled back in!
