What is it with drivers of german built cars?
« on: August 16, 2006, 16:06:58 »
Hi,

Warning - this is a rant about an Audi driver and our road

I have just turned into my driveway off the road and nearly been hit in the side by an Audi driver.( i was driving geoffs peugeot 406
I was indicating to turn right into my drive, but as the council have placed bollards to stop morons driving along the pavement( yes they still do it despite the bollards), i have to swing out a bit in order to get into the driveway.

She tried to overtake me and as i swung round to enter the driveway, she hooted and screeched to a halt, just missing me.

I got out of the car and asked her what the **** she thought she was doing, she said - you pulled in to the side,  i replied at high volume that i was indicating to turn right and referred her to the bollards .  she replied that she thought i had indicated the wrong way - i replied (again at high volume) with words to the effect that i was not some idiot **** audi driver but a poor soul living on a road that **** like her use as a short cut to the motorway.

She then backed up so that i could get into the driveway.

The neighbours were much amused and gave me a round of applause!!!

The amount of times i get abused as i try and get into or out of my driveway is frightening -as is trying to cross the road.  I live in a village, but when the local main road (the 453 past radcliffe powerstation) is closed, as it frequently is due to car accidents, everyone uses our road as the rat run.

This woman got a mouthful from me as i was extremely shook up - if she had hit the side of the car, i would have been squashed by the door, it was pure ignorance on her part, but perhaps if she had put the mobile  phone down I might not have got so nasty.

regards

Exactly the same thing has happened to me 3 times now with the exception of them not being audio drivers. The drivers might have been from germany mind for all the english they spoke.

There's a guy on my estate with an 04 Reg BMW 330i who drives like he's in the Indy 500, it's quite scary as ours isn't a big or busy estate and he flies past doing about 55-60!

As do we.  '92 230TE.  Very high standard of build quality too. ;)  Although it was close to being written off a few weeks back when someone in a Ford Ka almost T-boned it.

We have the world covered

2 BMW's                          Germany
2 Jeeps                           States
2 Honda Motorbikes          Japan

We got totalled when on the bike by an idiot in a ford mondeo so it could possibly be the drivers and not the cars #-o

And if a few more people realised that, and policed the roads properly instead of scameras everywhere, we'd be a lot better off.

Yebbut, the point of the advertising is that if somebody (either because they're an idiot driver or maybe because they've just made a mistake) hits a pedestrian at 30mph, they're much less likely to kill them than they are if they're doing 40mph.

And let's face it, we all make mistakes.  Of course lousy driving causes accidents;  but if you're going to get into one, the speed limit at least helps reduce the consequences.

Have you noticed though:

Merc. easy to spell
BMW, even easier
Audi, only takes a little effort,

These cars are all driven by people who are too thick to spell vauxhall
