i took my mum to her chriroprator today. sat waiting for her to come down and a man came in and said the car parks busy, and then went on to say that a landrover was taking two spaces up! i lokked at him and replied by saying no its not its only taking up one, i then went on to politely tell him there were 2 other car parked there as well could it possbly be that one of theose had parked irresponsible? he did not know what to say after that, and that i had told him i had to bring my mum, and the lady behind the reception said yes i could see your mum would struggle she's only little, i laughed and said i have to take my caravan step with me for her so she can get in easier.

i really does make me angry when 'others' can't park in the spaces but can only blame 4x4 drivers

It is a stupid comment for anyone to make when most land rovers are smaller than the new mondeo and such cars! I get annoyed at Ikea........they have height restriction in the multi story part so "big things" like land rovers have to park in the 20 or so spaces outside this area..........which is always used by people in small cars who cannot park :evil:

Yeah, bad parkers wind me up too :evil: , thats why i'm glad ive got tree sliders fitted....... doesn't matter if they clang their door against Trug, as it would take a damn good swing with a sledge hammer to make a dent :wink: .

Where we are at the moment we can't park near our chalet. It is actually *almost* quite embarassing, as the ONLY way for Bagheera to fit in the car park so other people can get in and out is to park him sideways in 2 bays :(

I got a comment on day two, and asked the bloke to see me into a space the normal way. He conceeded. I would stop 20 cars getting out. Stupid layout of the carpark. I hope he told the others :(

I'm occasionally guilty if the supermarket carpark is quiet - I tend to park far away too as people don't often use the spaces at the far end of the car park. I am known to bridge two of the (as above mentioned) small boxes because I'm tired of coming back to dings scrapes from doors or poor parking individuals who then decide to commit a "hit and run" because they don't want to own up.

I was once accosted by a man (when the huge car park had about 16 cars in it) who moaned about my use of two spaces - I politely pointed out that when he has moaned at all the people who can't park without using my bodywork I'll take his point onboard.

If there are genuinely not many spaces I'll park in only one though no point giving people reason to be upset. :D
Way back then - life crawled out of the mud, then it decided life was better and crawled back in!

Bagheera is probably a similar length to my father's Merc, and my father  sometimes has trouble getting it in a parking space and has had to park just like you had  there by parking sideways and taking up two bays. :(

As we have also found.  Come to a newish car park, park in the normal way a car does between the lines and have the nose of the car right up to the end of the space.  Get out, walk past the car and see it's sticking out of the car park space and into the route for cars to go along around the car park.  :shock: It's almost as if the car parks are designed for nothing more than a Nissan Micra these days.  :x

:) have you noticed though if you park in the middle of three spots people don't like parking next to you it's as though they are scared?? or is it just me??

I must be lucky as I seem to be able to get into most of our local car parks in the Disco with one depressing exception. The Redditch multi story car parks have bays of 3 spaces with pillars inbetween the 3 bays. This makes it vary difficult to park as I always seem to either have to fold in the passenger mirror or climb over to get out the passenger side.

Yes and there's always a bit of it sticking out too.

I reallywant to take the side-steps off the 110, but SWMBO tells me "NO!" as 'Small-Child' uses them to get in (she's 51/2)

It's alos being pointed out that they do a good job of preventing 'parking dings'.
Though at work, I tend to have a reserved parking space when I'm on lates (up a foot high kerb :lol: ) & on earlies I can usually get into a corner bay with more space, before all the office staff & various out-patients arrive.

On the subjsct of bay dimensions, I seem to recall reading somewhere  (either 'Autocar', or 'Auto-Express'?) that bays have been painted narrower in private operator car-parks in order to fit more cars in, & cynically fine drivers for incorrect parking.

Well firstly My Micra is only about 2 inches narrower on the track than Blue, though it is about 2/3 the length.

I want to fit side steps to the LSE just to protect the paintwork, I don't like the look of them but rock sliders are a bit OTT on this one.  If I park it anywhere I'm not happy then I stick it in extended mode to make it look bigger :)
