My 110 has much higher suspension on the rear than on the front. Could this be because its heavy duty?

I would like to raise the front so it is at the same height, can this be done as I like the clearance the rear gives me under the arches? Or would I need to completely change the suspension?

Hi Leigh. Is it worse than mine?

I have a 2" lift all round. And ive just made some 2" spacers to go at the front to even it out a bit. Ill post a pic when ive finished.

This pic is just the 2" lift.

Looks about the same minus the 2" I'd have thought it would have sat level if you had changed the springs all round. Would that mean the spring mounts are set higher than on other models?

Did the 2" spacers do the job?

The 110s sit higher so when they are loaded they ride level.
Spacers would work untill you chuck a load in the back when it may sit down giving interesting handling !

I haven't noticed mine having a particuly un level sit (not near that!) and mines got HD Springs!

Exactly

My 110 Hard-Top was that way inclined, as is the 'Heritage'

The situation may be differant for CSW's fitted with Boge self-levelling units ?

blue springs are bearmach, yellow MIGHT be britpart, if i remember right

Sorry I may be did not explain..... No they are black springs with Blue/yellow stripes. I am using Rangie red/whites stripes which are very soft.....

I guess by 'blue/yellow', you mean the splash of paint on the spring - the code that identifies what rating/vehicle they fit etc ?

i had the same problem, so a pair of YELLOW were fitted to BETTY no she stands level and looks nice....2" on the front and 1.5" on the back.. WITH BLACK MODS IS THE 2" LIFT

My 110 has no spacers at the moment. I have an Mm4X4 2" lift kit fitted, with es9000 shocks. It handles perfectly, weather loaded or unloaded. The polybushes make a large difference too. I often have at least a ton in the back, and it doesnt make it unstable. The 110 pickups, have very little weight in the back (compared to a CSW). Mine has no self leveler either.

The 2"spacers im fitting to the front, ar purely to level it out a bit, as i have a very heavy duty BullBar going on. And maybe in the future a Winch.

Ill get some pics up soon, when i have fitted the spacers. :D

Mine's a 1990 CSW with the self leveler on what I assume are standard springs and that sits nice and level unladen. :D

I haven't had any real weight in the back so-far, so I can't comment on what it does laden, but I assume that's what the self leveler is there for.

Yes the self-level 'pumps up' when the back suspension dips down too far so keeping the car level when loaded/towing without too hard a ride when empty. They can make the back a bit wallowy though as it is effectively a central spring.

Would fitting rear springs on the front help level it? I'm happy with the height of the rear and the clearance it gives but just want raise the front to level it ang give the same amount of clearance

You wont get rears n the front. They are 7" and not 6" like the fronts.

You could get some uprated fronts. I got some for taking a winch, and they leveled it out a bit.

As a quick question, if Land Rover designed the thing to sit slightly higher at the back than the front, they must have done it for a reason. Is there a compelling engineering need to change it, or is the decision being driven by aesthetics?

Personally, I like the poise it gives the wagon, like it's ready to pounce. 8) Kinda purposeful.

Just my tuppence.

.........but if there's a chance to save a few sheckles, well, it's more to spend on fuel, isn't it?

Partly aesthetics but mainly the idea is to put larger tyres on which is why I said I was happy with the clearance the back gives me. I wont be carrying the weight it was designed for.

Fair do's.

One thing to remember though is that the back axles moves a lot more than the front under articulation and bigger tyres may be more prone to contact the wheel arch boxes at the back whilst the front will remain clear (i.e. the rear axle requires more clearance than the front).

I have 235 85 16's on mine. I have had them even when my suspention was saggy. They didnt rub then, and deffinately not now. :)

What size tyres are you thinking of running? mines on 33.12.50s on standard HD springs and no clearance issues

I was thinking of 33's in the new year, so if there are no problems with clearance I'll leave the HD springs on and just go for longer shocks

I had 33"s on mine with H/D springs, I later added 2" blocks but more for looks then need. They never rubbed before or after.
