Changing Shocks?

Hi All,

Blew a front shock at Billing sunday and a back one is leaking, now should I just replace shocks or go for a full springs/shocks change.

Motor has done 68000 miles, and ride has always felt a bit harsh over bumps and cracks in road.

Now do I replace with O.E or go with other makes.

Sorry to be asking this question but after reading past posts still can't make a choice.

You don't necessarily need to change the springs provided they are in good condition, and just changing the dampers will be cheaper by far.

If you are feeling harshness over lumps and bumps now, I would recommend a good oil-filled damper replacement, either Genuine or an OEM alternative (avoid the pattern parts IMHO)

Unless you have a specific need, you don't have to go to the expense of changing to a different type.

RCV is listing a Boge damper (which I believe is OE) at 20 quid, and an OEM alternative at 17.50.   ( www.land-rover-parts-shop.com )

Nope, although I am looking at changing a couple of bits in the near future.

I currently run DeCarbon dampers with a set of springs made up to my own specs, along with a few other little bits and pieces I've added here and there.

Did a spring and shocker change on the front my disco last sunday, the springs were weak and low, I used heavy duty rangey springs and munroe gas shocks, One hell of a difference, mind you the springs were right down before the change, the whole front end was raised 2/3 inches

The other half needs a step ladder to get in now, mind you I need a stool to work in the engine bay too  :lol:  :lol:

The ride is a hellavalot better, bumps and humps are soaked up lovely, considering that the worst I'll be doing in this is green laning

Gonna do the back soon I reckon, she's tail low at the moment

You I'm just getting as much info as poss.

How do I tell what condition the springs are in.
