Freelander rear diff bearings

HELP!!!!!
2000 year L series diesel with 70k on the clock.
PROBLEM:
noisy bearing in the back somewhere.

I have checked the bearings either side of the VCU and even after 100 miles with a caravan in tow these are only warn, and there are no splits or tears in the mountings, so have ruled those out.
I have checked the VCU is functioning correctly, which it seems to be.
The only problem I can see, is that the "nose" of the rear diff is covered in oil, and this is where the noise appears to be coming from.

Will it help changing the oil and adding an additive to it?
Can the bearings here be replaced?
If so, how easily?
If not, I presume I will have to buy a new rear diff unit?
Anyone got one?

I have ordered a new diff from Simmonites, and a freind is delivering it this weekend. Found it is not possible to rebuild very easily as you need mega presses and things.
Garage will fit next week.
Priced around and found they were the cheapest, not by much, but enough to make a difference. Also they give Freelander Club discount!!

RESULT!!!!!
Problem solved.
Diff fitted but still a terrible noise, then we went through a big puddle and the noise stopped.
Sotoday have fitted a set of the VCU support bearings,
AND
all the noise has stopped.
