Damned annoying Chiming noise
« on: August 31, 2006, 08:02:02 »
While driving on the motorway, I kept hearing a chiming noise, thought it was the radio but after a few minutes realised it happens when I get above about 75mph.  I have been in a few 300TDi's now and mine seems to be the only one that does it.  Is there some wire somewhere thats connected that shouldn't be ? as I am sure this is proberbly a requirement for export or something or is it something I have to put up with ?

Thanks

Is yours a Japanese import?  I think it's a legal requirement over there.  I once had a Japanese Toyota in New Zealand, and it did the same thing, at 100kph in that instance.

Just find the chimer and snip the wires.  I've not come across one so don't know where it is.  Might be difficult to locate it whilst driving at 75mph!

Well, its not a jap inport as far as I know, might try finding the chimer at 75 mph but will practise driving whilst sitting upside down first :)
