Am trying to check if the breathers from the gearbox and transmission are high enough for deeper water.  Where do they generally end up? I can find where they start but then the bwork chassis and bulkhead prevent easy vision

Thanx in advance

On a Td5 they are at the back of the engine on a plastic 3-way clip thing, I'm guessing the 3 pipes are front axle, main 'box and transfer ?

Tony

I extended mine using some 6mm pipe and 6mm inline connectors that are 'push fit' in total it cost me £20 to do both axles and gearbox breathers.

You should be able to get the items from a local supplier of commpressed air parts, this way you just cut the breather pipe where you can see it and attach the in-line connector and a new piece of pipe and then run it where you want.

forgot to mention the in-line connectors are rated at 200psi and are therefore well adequate at stopping water ingress

On my '89 90 the gear box and transfer box ones end up between the block and the bulkhead. I haven't traced the axle breathers yet.

Thanx Berliner

Mine were leaning to the left and looked liked they were hooked up to the engine block (but they weren't)
